- Thomas Jones III, MBA, BSSM, SPHR Daily HR Tip #11: Understand the Basics of FMLAThe Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave within a 12-month period for specific family and medical reasons. These reasons include the birth or adoption of a child, caring for a spouse, child, or parent with a serious health condition, or the employee's own serious health condition. It's crucial that HR professionals understand these provisions and communicate them clearly to ensure compliance and support employees during these critical times. #HRTips #FMLA #EmployeeRights 1 Comment

- Thomas Jones III, MBA, BSSM, SPHR Daily HR Tip #14: Handle FMLA Requests with SensitivityFMLA requests often arise from deeply personal and challenging situations, such as a serious health condition or family emergencies. When handling these requests, it’s essential to maintain confidentiality and approach the situation with empathy. Train your HR team and managers to listen carefully and provide the necessary support without prying into details. Be sure to communicate clearly about the process, timelines, and what employees can expect during and after their leave. Supporting employees through these times can enhance their trust in the organization and improve overall morale. #HRTips #FMLA #EmployeeSupport 1

- Marie Lobbezoo - SPHR There will be a lot of changes coming in the world of Human Resources. Are you and your company prepared? One step you can take now is review your Employee Handbook. Do the policies in your Handbook actually align with what your company is doing? Does the Handbook have the most up to date State and Federal legislation affecting your workers? Or has it not been reviewed since it was written 10 years ago? A review now can help save some headaches later on. 4

- Frank Parker Jr. Learning Theories…
- Corporate Escape Artist A SHRM surveyrevealed that more than two-thirds of managers of remote workers admit to considering these employees more easily replaceable than in-office workers. When I read this I was horrified. Whether your boss "sees" you working or not shouldn't matter. What should matter is how productive you are and what you're actually contributing to the bottom line. When leaders favor in-office workers, it's called proximity bias and it can be unconscious or sometimes intentional. While there are things managers and the organization can do to combat this, I decided to focus on what you, the employee, can do to mitigate face time concerns in my latest Forbes article:https://lnkd.in/g-WtaQKGHave you experienced proximity bias? How did you handle it? Let me know your thoughts!
- Rachel Reger SHRM's call for Respect and Inclusion:The principles that guide us through challenging times like this are:Civility for All:Treating every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or beliefs.Open Communication:Encouraging open, honest, and constructive dialogue in our workplaces.Empathy and Understanding:Striving to understand different perspectives and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.https://lnkd.in/gBMA3Uwf 6
- Shelley Zepniewski, SHRM-CP I just attended a very interesting webinar on this last week. Many people thing you can choose whether or not your placed on FMLA, but the DOL says otherwise. Whether you're an employer or employee, this is some good info to know!#HRInfo #FMLA #DOL 2

- Kristina Mellen Please be kind and show some grace to your HR teams during the next few months. This is one of the busiest times of the year for your HR Business Partner. Your HRBP has open enrollment to finalize, field a lot of questions about guidelines regarding FSA, finalize budgets, help employees understand why the business can't approve everyone to take vacation in December, employee appreciation events, support operations in preparing for the performance evaluation process, work with hiring managers to determine their needs for 2025, assist teams or provide training regarding the importance of setting meaningful goals, most importantly sit with employees who are struggling with their mental health during this time of the year by encouraging the use of EAP and this list is not even close to encompassing all the things your HR team is working on. Then, in January, the list above seems to be amplified for a variety of reasons, but it usually stems from the fast-approaching deadlines and continued mental health concerns. All this while your HRBP is trying to prepare for the holidays at their home, enjoy time with their families, and take care of their own, often depleted emotional bucket. So please remember to be kind and show grace. Your HR team is working very hard behind the scenes. 31
- George Garcia Absolutely! As an HR leader, I wholeheartedly resonate with the unique position HR holds within any organization. Unlike other departments, we straddle multiple worlds: the company, leadership, and the employees. This multifaceted role often leads to a negative perception of HR, compounded by the fact that much of our work occurs behind the scenes, with others taking credit for the positives and blaming us for the negatives. In HR, we’re often seen as the “bad guys.”But here’s the reality behind those perceptions is so clearly discussed in the post below. 72 2 Comments
